The Abyssal Lagiacrus is a Leviathan introduced in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. They are a Rare Species variant of either Lagiacrus or Ivory Lagiacrus, being exceptionally ancient individuals that've grown so large, they have to reside near permanently in the ocean. Possessing an enhanced control over electricity that can rival that of Elder Dragons, Abyssal Lagiacruses can only be hunted by the most skilled hunters, and even then only when they emerge from their homes deep underwater.
Physiology[]
Abyssal Lagiacrus dwarfs even certain Elder Dragons in size, making it far larger than its more frequently encountered relatives. In contrast to its cousins, it is bio-luminescent and has a glossy black shell. As a result, it has bright blue spots all over its body, which are reflected in its hood spines and dorsal spikes that generate electricity. Its mouth's interior is a bright electric blue, and its eyes are a brilliant red that seem to blaze among the murky depths. Compared to other Lagiacrus species, it has longer and more noticeable horns and spines on its head and upper neck.
Abilities[]
Thanks to a lifetime of hunting oceanic prey, Abyssal Lagicruses possess an even better control over electricity when compared to their younger counterparts, capable of shooting powerful bolts of electricity from its mouth which detonate a distance away. Thanks to possessing a unique Dynamo organ, the Abyssal Lagiacrus can remain permanently charged and can even saturate the water surrounding it completely with electricity.
Abyssal Lagiacrus is also much more strong and durable thanks to its advanced age, being capable of summoning multiple whirpools with just a flick of its tail. Its large size also makes it incredibly deadly and capable of resisting most predation attempts, with only larger and more powerful monsters like Nakarkos and Ceadeus being capable of preying on it.
Habitat[]
Abyssal Lagiacrus, as its name implies, has been observed nearly exclusively in very deep and isolated oceanic regions. However, it can occasionally be spotted on dry land.
