~ Alfred's only lines in his cameo in Where The Dead Go To Die, likely referencing the plight of his original incarnation, along with the events of the first chapter of the film. |
Alfred Alfer is a minor character in the controversial 2012 animated anthology horror film Where The Dead Go To Die. He is a PSA actor who speaks about the dangers of stranger danger and CSA.
He was voiced by Emily Youcis, who also voiced Alfred's Boss and Cell Phone Dog in Rise of Alfred, the Fed-X Mailman in Alfred's Playhouse, Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ Porn Star and Alfred's Brother, The Ghost of Christmas Past, Tiny Tim, Mary, Mauray, God, Santa and Buddha in Alfred's StoryofChristmas.
Appearance[]
Alfred is a beige 3D animated cartoon dog with a lazy cross-eye that moved around constantly and an effeminate voice with a southern American accent.
Biography[]
Alfred appears in Chapter 3: The Mask That Monsters Wear, when Ralph is watching the TV. He speaks about how adults who want to touch children are bad and should be avoided. While his appearance doesn't serve much purpose, his lines do seem to reference the film's antagonist, Labby, who committed acts of child grooming and pedophilia (among other crimes) in the film's first chapter, and also seems to foreshadow his return in Chapter 3, which happens shortly after Alfred's appearance.
Personality[]
Alfred, unlike his original incarnation, is a cartoony, unintelligent-sounding character who tells children about the dangers of bad-touch. While there's nothing (aside from the name, voice and appearance) connecting Alfred to his original counterpart, one could theorise that this incarnation of Alfred also suffered from CSA like his original counterpart, and went on to become a spokesperson for PSAs surrounding the matter instead of succumbing to mental illness and becoming a serial murderer/necrophiliac/cyberterrorist.
Trivia[]
- Alfred's appearance in WTDGTD is a result of the at-the-time relationship between the film's creator, Jimmy Screamerclauz, and disgraced former Newgrounds artist Emily Youcis, who created Alfred. Similarly, Labby, WTDGTD's main antagonist, also appears as the main antagonist in The Alfred Alfer Movie, where he appears as a manifestation of the titular protagonist's trauma surrounding sexual abuse, neglect and abandonment, torturing him relentlessly throughout the film.
- Alfred's dialogue is likely a reference to his most famous cartoon, Alfred's Playhouse, where he tries (and fails) to deal with a past of sexual abuse at the hands of his former owner.
