The Anjanath are a species that appears in the fantasy videogame, Monster Hunter: World.

Why aren’t they heroic or villainous?[]

  • They are mainly minding their own business until the hunter comes.

Official Description[]

The Anjanath patrols the Ancient Forest looking for its favourite meal, Aptonoth. This belligerent monster will attack anything without the slightest provocation.

Appearance[]

With its flesh-toned scales and black and gray fur on its back, Anjanath has the appearance of a Tyrannosaurus. It also resembles the classic vulture. Its main hue is pink, and its back is covered in a black fur that terminates in a ruff at the neck, leaving the head bald. It appears as though the creature has an underbite because of its large fangs sticking out of its bottom jaw. Anjanath's thick tail, which has quills all over its underbelly, balances its enormous jaws. The monster's forearms are incredibly little in comparison to its formidable hind legs. Beneath the creature's fur, there are two dorsal sails that occasionally flare up. In addition, Anjanath has a noticeable nasal crest that it may unfurl to mark its territory with mucus, detect predators, or display increased hostility. Anjanath's neck contains a flame sac that, when primed, glows a flaming crimson.

The Anjanath's darker scales and hairy coat provide it with cover while it waits to ambush prey, making it a good fit for deep woodland dwelling. From its rear, it can extend two sails, which function as two enormous heat regulators. When the beast performs its characteristic ability, fire breath, these sails are constantly stretched to prevent overheating. The Anjanath can emit a gout of flames from its lips by burning combustible and scented mucus that it creates in its nose utilizing a flame sac inside its body. Additionally, it marks its area and repels possible attackers with this mucous. On the other hand, its black fur serves as a good insulator and is said to promote the beast's ability to use fire and its resistance to it. When filled with blood, the loose, fleshy appendage on the tip of the Anjanath's nose significantly improves its sense of smell. Along with its sails, the Anjanath employs this as a means of intimidation and to detect potential victims. They make up for their poor vision with their keen sense of smell.

Abilities[]

Anjanath has a strong nose for spotting prey and powerful jaws that let it lift up and toss around huge animals as well as tear apart enemies. It also has the capacity to breathe fire from its mouth thanks to a throat organ. Anjanath are ferocious predators that will pursue any intruder who dared to assault them. Once an opponent provokes Anjanath, they won't let them escape lightly. Anjanath would breathe heavily and show its nostrils when it is angry. In an attempt to intimidate their victim, it will also periodically flash little fins off its back, giving the impression that they are larger. Anjanath can sustain injuries to his head and legs, with broken legs being more vulnerable to further harm.

Behavior[]

Anjanath is positioned in the midst of the food chain in the Ancient Forest. Anjanath has no Turf Wars with any creature found in the Wildspire Waste, although it does have them with every monster found only in the Ancient Forest. When angered, Anjanath will pursue any enemy that stands in its path. It will even pursue hunters into new territory, chasing them mindlessly until they are killed or securely concealed. This also applies to the majority of the game's huge creatures.

Any intruders in Anjanath's territory will be attacked because they are very territorial and violent. Because the males with the largest territory tend to attract the females, Anjanath males are more hostile toward other males. Because of the beast's extreme solitaryness and aloofness, it has not yet been verified that Anjanath uses its sails to communicate with its brethren. If they can, younger Anjanath men would frequently try to take an older Anjanath's land.

Its habitat is the Ancient Forest, although it may also be seen infrequently in the Wildspire Waste, where the fiercely protective Anjanath is a formidable predator. It dominates its region and easily defeats other monsters including the Great Jagras, Pukei-Pukei, Great Wroggi, Tetranadon, and Tobi-Kadachi. It preys on Aptonoth (and Apceros while in the Waste). It must nevertheless be on the lookout for fierce migratory monsters like Deviljho and Bazelgeuse, as well as formidable apex predators like Rathalos, despite its superiority. Although they are uncommon in the Ancient Forest, elder dragons like Kushala Daora can potentially be an issue.

Habitat[]

The paths of the Ancient Forest and the Wildspire Waste are periodically patrolled by Anjanath. It is important to remember that most Anjanath sightings occur in the forest, and it's possible that competition drove the Anjanath in the wastes there. Additionally, Anjanath has been observed residing in hot areas such as Lava Caverns and Sandy Plains (Rise). Anjanath is also known to flourish in the Citadel, Flooded Forest (Rise), Shrine Ruins, and Jungle (MHRS).
