The Late Cretaceous epoch saw the existence of the extinct genus Ankylosaurus in North America. Its body was covered in incredibly thick, bony plates of armor, including armored eyelids, giving it the appearance of a living tank. Another purpose of its tail was to serve as a lethal club. The club was used to swing around and collide with a dinosaur that was attacking. Even a Tyrannosaurus rex wouldn't want to meddle with this frightening animal because of how intimidating its club was.
Appearance[]
The original counterparts and the clones have varied appearances. Its face horns are wider than the original, its tail club is shaped differently, and the osteoderms that protrude from its body are spiky and sharp. One type of Ankylosaurus clone has brilliant red spots on the eyes and a dark brown underbelly. Its armor was black, and its body was striped with faded purple. A second variety, 1.1 meters longer than those first produced on Sorna, featured dark gray armor with white spikes and grayish skin. A real Ankylosaurus constantly utilized its armor and tail club because it couldn't truly flee at all and was well-protected by its body armor, whereas the clones in Jurassic World were able to gallop away from a threat quickly and only employed them as a last resort. Most of the time, these new clones were shedding tails incorrectly.
Behavior[]
Both today and in the late Cretaceous, Ankylosaurus are known to be gregarious animals that form herds. Similar to what was observed with Bumpy, they have been spotted protecting their juveniles by forming a defensive circle. The predatory tendencies of animals like the Scorpios rex, which were a threat while Ankylosaurus roamed, are thought to have contributed to the Ankylosaurus's increased protective behavior. The thick-skinned, strongly armored Ankylosaurus dinosaur exhibited traits that probably worked well as defenses against predators. The Ankylosaurus is thought to have had few natural predators because of its strong defensive traits. But the Ankylosaurus showed signals of dread when confronted with a massive predator like the Indominus rex in Jurassic World, probably because it had never seen such a powerful predator before. The Ankylosaurus would react to the threat by staying steady and unmoving until the Indominus rex charged. Two Ankylosaurs were seen in a forest, one pushing a log and the other standing close by, acting inquisitively. This exchange demonstrates social complexity and fascinating post-Fallen Kingdom dynamics in the Dominion age, and also raises the possibility of a pair relationship.
