~ Gusteau’s motto. |
Auguste Gusteau is the overarching protagonist of Disney/Pixar's 2007 animated feature film, Ratatouille.
He was a five-star chef who died following a massive blow to his reputation, leaving behind a fractured legacy. He later appears as fragment of Remy's imagination and it is Remy's mind that is channeling him from the great beyond. He is also the biological father of Alfredo Linguini.
He is voiced by Brad Garrett.
Why aren't they heroic or villainous?[]
Personality[]
Gusteau's true personality is not fully known, since he is only seen on a television set by Remy, but during this brief appearance he is shown to be very enthusiastic about his work as a chef and motivating others to do so. Remy's imaginary version of Gusteau is heavily based off of the image of the real Gusteau from his cookbooks and advertisements, but is unlikely to have been exactly like the real Gusteau.
Biography[]
Gusteau was one of the most renowned chefs in all of Paris, and lived by his motto, "Anyone can cook." Unfortunately Gusteau has passed away by the plot's beginning, seemingly out of a broken heart by a harsh review from critic Anton Ego and lowering the restaurants Michelin Stars by one. After his passing, the restaurant, out of tradition, would then lose another star. Gusteau appears henceforth as a figment of Rémy's imagination, guiding him and giving him motivation to cook.
