The Leviathan and Somnacanth subspecies known as Aurora Somnacanth was first seen in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
Appearance[]
Aurora Somnacanth resembles Somnacanth in appearance, but it has a pale yellow body and ice-blue fins with a dark purple gradient. Frost is visible accumulating on its head-crest and tail, and the bioluminescence is white rather than pale blue.
Habitat[]
Like Somnacanth, it inhabits a small number of locations and is primarily found in chilly areas such as the Citadel and the Frost Islands.
Abilities[]
Aurora Somnacanth fights with strong ice attacks rather than sleep mist. The cold powers of the Subspecies come from its Cryo Sac. These include a cry that can result in many frost blasts and an ice beam. Compared to its sibling, Aurora Somnacanth spends more time on land. According to reports, Aurora Somnacanth's skills are essentially equivalent to those of Barioth and Goss Harag. It can release cold air from its body by using its Cryo Sac. A large area can be instantaneously frozen by this freezing mist. By freezing the ground and its surroundings, Aurora Somnacanth may move more quickly around adversaries and prey.
Behavior[]
Aurora Somnacanth is an aggressive monster that attacks everyone who enters its region, just like its counterpart. It attracts prey with its siren-like sound before freezing them to death. It accomplishes this by circling its target while sliding across the ice, using its ice powers to reduce the prey's stamina, and then attempting to kill it. After that, it will drag its victim to a secret area to eat. Izuchi and other little creatures are its prey. Monsters like Aknosom and Aurora Somnacanth also have territorial issues. Because the flame of the Bird Wyvern disturbs the frigid air of the Aurora Somnacanth, the aknosom is the one that people detest the most. It drives the monster away from its territory more frequently.
