Basarios are a species that are from the science fantasy videogame Monster Hunter.
Appearance[]
It has a hard, stony (and occasionally moss-covered) carapace, as the juvenile version of Gravios. Because Basarios uses its carapace to protect itself from predators and to effectively blend in with its surroundings when it buries itself partially in the earth, it is even tougher than that of its adult form. Weight causes Basarios to travel slowly, and although though it has wings, it seldom ever utilizes them to fly. Even then, its weight only permits it to fly for a little period of time.
Behavior and Abilities[]
From its underbelly, Basarios can emit either deadly or sleeping gas, and on very rare circumstances, it can even emit a fire plume. It can also sometimes release an extremely strong beam of lava. Like Yian Kut-Ku, it can also launch balls of fire, but its preferred attack is to charge at enemies.
In order to blend in with their surroundings, basarios can burrow underground, only showing their back. This gives them the appearance of a huge gray rock.
