Bazelgeuse are a species that are from the science fantasy videogame, Monster Hunter: World. They are a species of scavenging Flying Wyvern that often descend on fighting monsters, unleashing a bombardment of explosive scales which they use to either kill the fighters or scare them off from their kills. This makes them somewhat of a nuisance later into the game of Monster Hunter: World as they frequently descend on the hunter in the middle of battles to steal their kills.
Appearance[]
Large and heavy-skinned with a bronze shine, Bazelgeuse is a Flying Wyvern covered in large, diamond-shaped scales. It is huge in wingspan and has a hefty upper body. Scales protrude from the lower half of its chin and tail and are readily shed. Every now and again the monster goes into a "superheated" condition, when the spaces between its scales flash a bright red.
Behavior and Abilities[]
In battle, Bazelgeuse employs its scales as an attacking weapon. It has the ability to instantly replace them after removing them from its body at will. The scales that fall to the field will behave like land mines once they are loosed; they will burst under any kind of impact. But in a few of seconds, the scale will violently erupt once Bazelgeuse reaches a superheated state, dealing concussive damage to any around enemies. Bazelgeuse may interrupt its opponent with ear-piercing roars and bellows, as well as a short-range burst of fire from its mouth. Its large, powerful frame enables it to pound and pummel other monsters into submission. Despite this, its attacks during aerial combat are rather lackluster as it only possesses a simple fireball breath, allowing more agile, airborne opponents like Magnamalo and Silver Rathalos to take it down.
Bazelgeuse, like the majority of apex-level monsters, imposes strict laws on its domain. To establish its supremacy, it will turn aggressive toward any monster or hunter that enters its path. Absurdly hostile, it will even go out of its way to find opponents with whom to engage in combat, and when it does, it usually wins. Its presence is usually announced with an ear-piercing roar before it lets its scales fall, bombarding both monster and hunter with explosions. As a pseudo-scavenger, Bazelgeuse mainly functions by scaring other monsters off their kills with its bombing runs or just outright killing weakened monsters it can find, most often during fights with each other. Thus, it often comes into conflict with Deviljho, another hyper-aggressive monster that it feuds with for food.
