Bruce is the overarching antagonist of the 2025 fantasy action-adventure film A Minecraft Movie, the film adaptation of Mojang's Minecraft video games franchise.
He is a Piglin and Malgosha's possible abusive father who berates her for her performance at the Nether's Got Talent show and tells her to give up, indirectly fueling Malgosha's start into darkness and her resentment towards creativity.
He is voiced by Jemaine Clement.
Why isn't he Heroic or Villainous?[]
- While it is shown on screen that he doesn't care for Malgosha and her dreams, he only exhibits jerk level behavior towards her and that all of his other actions derives on offscreen fridge horror.
- Also, even if it was shown that Bruce was the one who started Malgosha's descendance into villainy, Malgosha was the one who continued to drive herself in a downwards spiral rather than ignoring Bruce's insult towards her and continuing her dreams of becoming a dancer.
- He is also way too enigmatic to be considered a villain since it was unclear of who he was other than being Malgosha's father and a gold miner or what his motives were.
Appearance[]
Bruce looks just like any other Piglin. He wears pants held up by chains, and chain bracelets around his hands.
Biography[]
As Steve tells Malgosha's backstory of how she wanted to be a dancer, Bruce appears after she fails to impress the audience. Bruce ridicules Malgosha for her performance and that she should just give up becoming a dancer and instead focus on mining gold. As Bruce walks away still mocking her, Malgosha started to resent all forms of creativity and eventually became the cruel tyrant of the Piglins later as she grew up. Thanks to Bruce, the movie's plot is kicked off with Malgosha soon finding the creative man known as Steve, who was then imprisoned in the Nether when she outlawed all forms of creativity there.
Trivia[]
- There is a possible chance that after Malgosha became queen, she killed her father due to him presumably being abusive towards her. What further supports this theory is that she is entirely okay with killing her family members, as seen when she kills her son, General Chungus.
