A Virtually Resourceful or Necessary Neutral is a neutral character that is important to either the heroes or the villains. If the resourceful character dies, something bad may happen. So it is important to keep this characters alive. Examples include Gray's Father, Queen Valerin, the Lookies, and Beatrice.

Sometimes, a neutral character can still be resourceful, even if they didn't intend to be that way. Examples include Angela, Gray's Mother, and Marcas Brickley.
