Carapaceons, known as Ceanataurs, were first seen in Monster Hunter 2.
Physiology[]
With sharper claws, stubby legs, and a higher-edged shell, it resembles the Hermitaur. The Ceanataur itself actually grew the shell on its back. It will only swap out its shell for a larger monster skull—such as a Gravios skull or a giant snail shell—when it becomes a Shogun Ceanataur. A Black Gravios skull will be used by the Terra Shogun Ceanataur.
Abilities[]
It can spit a little ball of toxic liquid at enemies. A ceanataur may occasionally wait underground for a hunter or prey to pass, then leap out of the dirt and attack them as they approach. The clouds of dust that a burrowing Ceanataur regularly throws out are indicative of its underground location. Despite being much more violent than the Hermitaur, the Ceanataur is regarded as extremely dangerous.
Habitat[]
The ceanataur's primary habitat is a volcano, where it can burrow through the thick rock thanks to its incredibly keen claws.
