Chase Racelott is a minor character in Cars 3. He is a Next-Gen racer sponsored by Vitoline who replaced Brick Yardley in the Piston Cup as the Vitoline racer.
He is voiced by and based on Chase Elliott.
Why aren't they heroic or villainous?[]
- All he did is just racing and he played it fairly.
Biography[]
In Cars 3, Chase joins the 2016 Piston Cup season in October as a replacement for Brick Yardley, who was fired. He starts the Los Angeles 500 in 22nd place and duels with Bubba Wheelhouse and Aaron Clocker. Later, Chase and Danny Swervez pass all the racers except Lightning McQueen and Jackson Storm, battling for 3rd and 4th. Danny eventually beats Chase, and they both pass McQueen before he crashes.
In the Florida 500, Chase starts in 9th place but gets caught in an accident. He manages to continue and restarts in 4th, dueling Flip Dover and Nick Shift, finishing around 10th. After the race, he congratulates Cruz on her win.
Personality[]
Chase is kind and takes racing seriously, shown when he congratulates Cruz Ramirez with a tire bump after she wins. He can be arrogant at times, as shown when he told the press he wouldn't lose sleep over Lightning McQueen's whereabouts. Despite that, Chase is good-hearted, smart, and friendly. He congratulates Cruz Ramirez after she wins the Florida 500, accepting her as a fellow racer.
Trivia[]
- Chase's name is a reference to his voice actor, Chase Elliott, who is a professional NASCAR race car driver. Interestingly, Elliott's story is quite similar to Chase's, as both have replaced a much older racer who had the same racing number (Elliott replaced Jeff Gordon, who was racing with the number #24, before he unexpectedly retired).
- Due to the NASCAR crossover die-cast line, his number is now #9. This is a reference to the racing number of Chase Elliott's car.
- During some scenes of the Los Angeles 500, Chase and Eric Braker switch positions.
- Due to inaccuracy on his artwork, it is believed that Chase has blue eyes, but in the movie, he has hazel eyes and on his diecast, he has green eyes.
