Chuckles the Clown is a minor character in the 2010 Disney/Pixar full length animated-computer feature film Toy Story 3.
Why aren't they heroic or villainous?[]
- Chuckles only appears in the movie in order to tell Woody and his friends about his backstory with Lotso. While this indirectly helped them end Lotso's tyranny, it was not intentional on his part and there is no indication that he found out about that, meaning that he cannot count as a hero.
- While he used to be one of Lotso’s friends, he never joined his evil Sunnyside leadership, even getting beaten up by Lotso for it, meaning that he does not count as a villain.
Biography[]
He was once a kind and friendly toy. He was once Lotso the bear's best friend. One day, their owner (a little girl named Daisy) took them with her to nature, but accidentally forgot them. Chuckles, Lotso and Baby decided to find their way home, but when they finally got there, it turned out that Daisy had replaced Lotso with another bear. Then he got angry and went wandering, taking Baby and Chuckles with him. During their long wanderings, they accidentally came across the Sunny kindergarten, where Lotso subsequently seized power among the toys.
Later, Chuckles broke down (probably due to Lotso's actions) and accidentally ended up with another little girl named Bonnie. There he met Bonnie's other toys. However, since then he was in a long depression and smiled only in playful mode in the presence of people. One day he met Woody (the main character of the franchise, who also accidentally ended up with Bonnie), who, by coincidence, also ended up in Sunny and met Lotso there. Chuckles told Woody about Lotso's true colors and gave him Daisy's locket, which he kept from the time he lived with her. Later, when Bonnie drew his portrait, Chuckles began to smile not only in toy mode.
Personality[]
Chuckles shows to be a depressed toy, probably because of Daisy’s accidental abandonment as well as him ending his friendship with Lotso and the other toys due to them becoming tyrants.
But unlike Lotso, he never self-pitied himself or became evil, instead trying to live in peace with the other toys.
He is pretty affable despite being stoic, being shown where he told Woody and the other toys about his backstory.
