Crimson Glow Valstrax is a Variant of Valstrax introduced in Monster Hunter Rise. They are Valstrax individuals that, thanks to a malfunction in their Dragon energy organs, have begun producing more energy than they can withstand, making them more powerful but keeping them in constant pain. As this agony makes them highly aggressive and causes them to lash out at any living being they see, hunters are tasked to take them out in order to end their misery and to stop their rampages.

Physiology[]

Crimson Glow Valstrax possesses scarlet lines that light permanently from the chest to the wings, appearing on the sides and wing-arms, as a result of the dragon energy that is flowing through its body. The wings are shaped differently than those of a typical Valstrax; they resemble exhaust vents and are burning red, just like those of a typical furious Valstrax. The wings will turn blazing red and begin to spew dragon energy when air is inhaled. Its torso glows red when it is angry, and a lot of dragon energy emerges from the vents in its shoulders and chest. When it is angry, dragon energy begins to shoot out of the nostrils on the back of its head as exhaust.

Abilities[]

Possessing the same keen control over the Dragon element as their regular counterparts, Crimson Glow Valstraxes are unique as their organs responsible for creating this energy are malfunctioning, causing them to produce excess amounts of it. This energy "leaks" into the bodies of the Valstraxes, driving them mad with power and causing them to perform random attacks to vent off excess amounts of it, firing indiscriminate fireballs and scattering patches of Dragon energy over the floors of their battlefields. Their regular attacks are also enhanced, allowing them to fire off lasers of Dragon energy at foes. Furthermore, Crimson Glow Valstraxes can cloak themselves in an aura of Dragon energy, nullifying elemental attacks until their chests are sufficiently damaged.

Like their regular counterparts, Crimson Glow Valstraxes are supernaturally strong, durable, resilient and fast, being considered extremely dangerous monsters akin to the likes of Narwa the Allmother. This natural strength, combined with their enhanced Dragon energy, is what allows them to overcome Qurio infection, a feat impossible for all but the most resilient Elder Dragons, achieving a Risen state. In this form, Crimson Glow Valstrax has successfully killed its parasites and taken the energy they've accumulated all for itself, allowing it to become much more powerful than its regular counterpart. Furthermore, it seems that this form has enhanced its control over the Dragon energy even more: their ultimate attack, "Around the World", now includes them bombarding the hunter with blasts of Dragon energy before crashing back down.

Behavior[]

It is much more violent than its typical form and has a reputation for attacking anything it sees, including powerful Elder Dragons like Amatsu, without hesitation. This is because, in contrast to its typical counterpart, its dragon energy has gone rogue, changing its behavior in reaction to the ongoing agony the energy causes and making it less withdrawn. Like the invasion monster Bazelgeuse, Crimson Glow Valstrax frequently ambushes both Hunters and monsters by unexpectedly dive-bombing them from the high skies.

Crimson Glow Valstrax is seen as being on a threat level comparable to the toughest Apex Monsters and Thunder Serpent Narwa/Narwa the Allmother because of its high inherent strength, which is increased by its mutation, and its newly discovered aggression. The Sandy Plains records reveal that a Crimson Glow Valstrax was responsible for the abandonment of the civilisation that once stood there, likely bringing it to ruin and forcing the survivors to scatter. Furthermore, in its Risen state it is considered one of the most dangerous Risen Elder Dragons, being comparable to Risen Shagaru Magala in power.
