Biography[]
Cars 3[]
In Cars 3, Danny replaces Bobby Swift as Octane Gain's racer in the 2016 Piston Cup season. In the Los Angeles 500, he competes with Lightning McQueen, Jackson Storm, Chase Racelott, and others. Danny battles McQueen and Chase for much of the race, finishing second behind Jackson Storm after McQueen crashes.
In the 2017 Florida 500, Danny starts second and stays near the front. He briefly leads when Jackson slows down to discourage Cruz Ramirez, but Jackson quickly retakes the lead. Cruz then passes both of them to win, and Danny finishes third, congratulating Cruz afterward.
Personality[]
Danny Swervez is a Next-Gen racer who is focused and eager to learn, being set on pushing himself to overcome obstacles both on an off of the race track. He is a quick learner who strives to be the very best, replacing Bobby Swift as the Octane Gain racer mid-season.
During the Florida 500, when Jackson Storm cruelly taunts Cruz Ramirez, Danny notices and is visibly repulsed, having been confused when he noticed Storm suddenly slowing down, but still focused on the race. In the end, after Cruz won the race, he genuinely congratulates her on her win, having accepted her as a fellow racer.
Trivia[]
- Danny's name is a pun from his US voice actor, Daniel Suárez, who is a professional NASCAR driver that won the championship of Xfinity Series (after the restart). Suárez's story is quite similar to his fictional counterpart, as both have replaced previous racers (Suárez took over the #19 car when Carl Edwards unexpectedly retired during the post-season of the 2016 season).
- In the Danish dub, he's named after racing driver Kevin Magnussen.
- He is the only Next-Gen racer voiced by a NASCAR driver that had not been interviewed in Cars 3.
- A natural instinct of Disney is to promote Daniel more than any other next-gen, even the other speaking ones. They make him come 2nd behind Storm, release more forms of toys of him besides just the Mattel Diecast, and release the Mattel die-cast in numerous Multi-Packs.
- He is the only Next-Gen apart from Cruz and Storm, that is seen in the lead.
