The Dire Miralis are an Elder Dragon species that appears in the fantasy videogame, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. They are titanic monsters that possess an incredibly high body temperature that destroys all life around them. Thus, one individual is known to inhabit the Tainted Sea, using its waters to prevent overheating and causing it to become devoid of life.
Physiology[]
The enormous, semi-aquatic Elder Dragon, Dire Miralis. Its body is similar to Fatalis', with a long neck and tail and comparatively small limbs. A material that resembles magma fills its body and gathers at the base of the tail, the chest, and each shoulder. Magma flow is directed toward certain bodily sections by each of these pools. It has two wing-like appendages on its back. These seemingly ineffective "wings" are capable of extruding magma globules as a defensive mechanism and a way to get rid of extra magma. They resemble cannons. The skull of Dire Miralis has an inverted snout and a structure resembling frills.
Abilities[]
The primary weapons used in battle by the amphibious Elder Dragon Dire Miralis are fireballs fired from its mouth and magma-like fluid eruptions from its wing plates. Due to its immense size, Dire Miralis is also capable of crushing its enemies with its limbs and body.
Its body temperature and the fluids it secretes are so high that, in many cases, just seeing it is enough to boil the oceans it inhabits and wipe out any other species that is unfortunate enough to be in its path. This gives it the ability to completely destroy ecosystems and transform them into vile wasteland. Interestingly, it’s implied that Dire Miralis has a supernatural degree of regeneration like its Fatalis cousins as its heart continues beating after death. Furthermore, it’s claimed that Dire Miralis can regrow from that disembodied heart, making it nigh-immortal.
Behavior[]
Dire Miralis has many of the aggressive and territorial traits of Fatalis and its cousins. It is known to assault and sink islands apparently out of nowhere, even though it only causes havoc quietly everywhere it goes.
Habitat[]
It is known that this creature can only be found in the Tainted Sea. Dire Miralis probably needs this shallow water to help it control its body temperature and cool down when it becomes too hot, given how much heat its body produces.
