He is the only new boxer in the game, as all the rest have already debuted in previous installments. In his Contender intro, he is shown to be very fond of disco dancing like it's the 1970s. He also has stereos built in his car so that he can blast music in public. At some point, he would join the WVBA to become a boxer and defeat Little Mac.
However, he ends up losing, making him sad as shown in his Title Defense intro, where he finds a poster that advertises boxercising and decides to quit disco dancing to do boxercise instead, where instead of boxing shorts is now wearing a purple leotard. He tries defeating Little Mac once again to take his title, but still loses, making Little Mac uphold his title as Champion.

During matches, Disco Kid is shown to be very flashy and flamboyant, showing his dance moves to Little Mac while taunting him, as well as flashing his teeth. Disco Kid is also shown to be rather cocky and optimistic, even telling the player when he is about to attack. He is also shown to be constantly smiling, even when he is knocked down. Once defeated, Disco Kid will start spinning around the ring and afterward falling to the ground, saying "Ouch..." in pain.
