The Emperor Bulblax is the final boss of the game, Pikmin, a major boss in the games Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4, and the penultimate boss of the spin-off Hey! Pikmin.
Appearance[]
The Emperor Bulblax is a very old looking bulborb, with a green mossy-looking back with very few plants on it. It has smaller eyes than the regular bulborb, and a purple tongue, too.
Why isn’t it heroic or villainous?[]
It’s literally just an animal trying to survive. The reason it attacks the Pikmin, is not because it wants revenge, and not because out of malicious intent. It sees them as prey. Another reason, is self-defense.
Pikmin[]
The Emperor Bulblax is the final boss you fight. It is located in the Final Trial. Once you finish all three paths and break down both walls, the fight can begin. It is best to put your idle pikmin on the cliffs, so they don’t get killed. There are pipes that contain bomb rocks for your yellow pikmin to carry. You must get the Emperor Bulblax to eat a bomb rock, and get stunned. This is your chance to throw your red pikmin at it. Once it is lowered to half health, it gets enraged and starts to show its brand new attack. It does a very high jump, and slams down, intending to crush your pikmin. Once it dies, it spews out a piggy bank, A.K.A the “secret safe”.
Pikmin 2[]
In this game, the Emperor Bulblax is a joke. Just throw your purple pikmin at it, and it dies in 3 seconds. But that isn’t its only appearance. It also appears in the Hole of Heroes and Cavern of Chaos. This time, there are more than one Emperor Bulblax. This time, it is somewhat challenging.
Pikmin 4[]
Similar to Pikmin 2, This Emperor Bulblax is fairly easy. In the Kingdom of Beasts, There are two Emperor Bulblaxes you need to kill before you move on. Once both are defeated, one will spew out a castaway, and the gate will be open. Their Pikmin 1 appearance also returns, but is classified as a Sovereign Bulblax instead. The Emperor Bulblax also returns in Cavern for a King, but instead of two, there are three. Once drops a pear, A.K.A a “tremendous sniffer”.
Hey! Pikmin[]
The Emperor Bulblax appears in the spin-off, Hey! Pikmin, as a Penultimate boss. It is found in the Lushlife Murk. It never leaves its central spot, but it can bury underground. Once the battle begins, it goes idle for a bit, then turns to Captain Olimar, intending to eat Olimar. Get the Emperor Bulblax to eat a bomb rock to stun it and make it fall on the floor. Then, throw your pikmin at it.
Once it is down to two thirds of its health, Crumbugs will appear. Get ready to throw your pikmin at the Crumbugs. After both are down, get to a corner, and grab a bomb rock while you’re at it. Make sure you get to a corner when it starts shaking with its snout low, since that means it will jump up to adjust its angle once again, and end up facing near the corner. As soon as the emperor lands from its jump, run to the other corner, so you can escape both the tongue swipe attack and the Sparrowheads that will appear. The Sparrowheads are kind of a doozy, as they can come your way, and be in attack mode. Make sure to take it out before it even touches your pikmin. Then, the emperor will return, and you must place another bomb rock on the ground for it to eat.
Once it is down to its final third of its health, the only charge will be that four Sparrowheads will appear instead of only two. Repeat the process until the Emperor Bulblax’s ultimate death.
