Biography[]
In cars, Ernie participates in the season's last race, the Dinoco 400, held at the Motor Speedway of the South. He stays in the top 10 for the majority of the race, close to the front of the group. Ernie participated in the Chick Hicks-caused collision that nearly killed every racer on the track. He first attempted to escape the collision by slowing down, but this led him to veer off course and into the safety wall before being struck by Todd Marcus shortly after.
The post-accident pit, when he is driving down pit lane, shows that Ernie Gearson was T-boned at some time during the wreck. Even though he had some minor injuries, he was still able to race. In the scene that follows, he is seen side by side with Lightning McQueen as he restarts in second place, indicating that he was miraculously the first racer to leave pit road. But Lightning had already separated from Ernie and the group as soon as the green flag was raised, so he had managed to get a better run. Due to the extensive damage he sustained in the collision, Ernie lost a lot of positions over the remainder of the race. Although Gearson and Cleanair were not visible when the final lap was declared, he was close to the rear by the time it came to an end, only ahead of James Cleanair, Kevin Racingtire, and Slider Petrolski as seen in a shot on the final lap. He came in at number 22.
Ernie continues to compete in the Piston Cup in Cars 3. However, interest in Next-Gen race vehicles increased after Jackson Storm's debut. Nick Shift, a racer from the next generation, took Ernie's spot after he retired.
Appearance[]
Ernie Gearson is a Husker Morroco stock car in the movie Cars. He has brown eyes. Lightyear racing tires are what he utilizes. He barely had 300 horsepower in his engine when he first began racing. He has a green stripe painted around his roof, hood, and doors, and he is painted light blue (aqua). The number 93 is painted in white on his doors and roof, and he has the Spare Mint logo on his hood. In Cars 3, Ernie undergoes a significant makeover since he is now a Capitol Motors Mark II. His paint job is identical, though, with the exception of the headlights, which he replaced with fake ones, with the number 93 underneath the right one.
