Espinas is a Flying Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Frontier Season 2.0. They are a species of Flying Wyvern that, despite their dozy natures, are noted to be incredibly powerful and durable, being capable of beating back and defeating several Elder Dragons with ease. As they are quite docile and don’t view humans as prey, Espinas are often welcomed to live near humans as protection, though hunters are often sent to hunt more belligerent individuals.
Physiology[]
Though Espinas's physique resembles that of a Rathian, it is coated in hot pink spikes that are venomous, paired with rough green armor plating. Like Monoblos, it has a long, pink, poisonous horn sticking out of the front of its skull. Its head, foot, tail, wings, and body are all covered with poisonous thorns. Compared to other Flying Wyverns, its torso, tail, and feet are larger and more muscular. Its feet are covered with four pink claws. When it is furious, like Tigrex it will have reddish-orange veins.
Abilities[]
Apart from being immune to most assaults due to its exceptionally thick hide, Espinas can hurl poisonous fireballs that, when struck, induce paralysis and poisoning. Its thorns also produce poison status in the majority of its physical assaults. However, Espinas is also capable of displaying unexpected bursts of speed, such as racing towards opponents to ram them with its horn. It may also use its enormous weight and physical strength to physically overwhelm its enemies.
Behavior[]
For a Flying Wyvern, Espinas is surprisingly passive. It is nearly usually seen sleeping in the wild, and because of its extreme durability, it frequently sleeps through enemy attacks during which its poisonous spikes may injure or kill its opponents. It responds indifferently to attacks even when startled and awakened, idly ambling back and forth and depending on its thick hide for protection.
Nevertheless, Espinas will get furious if it sustains enough harm. It then turns into a more quicker and more vicious creature that charges and smashes aggressors with its horn and launches poisonous fireballs. But in this state, the increased blood flow to its hide will lead it to soften and become more open to assaults.
Habitat[]
Although more uncommon sightings have occurred in regions like the Tower and Fortress Ruins, as well as swamps like the Dark Veil Forest, Espinas may typically be seen fighting in places with abundant vegetation, like as the Great Forest and Flower Field.
Espinas makes appearances in the Citadel, the Shrine Ruins, and the Jungle in the main series.
