Fazbear's Fright Nightguard is the unseen main protagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's 3. As their name suggests, they are the security guard working at the Fazbear's Fright horror attraction.
History[]
On an unspecified date in the year of 2023, the person in question was hired as the security guard for the soon-to-open horror attraction "Fazbear's Fright", based on the events of William Afton's killing spree and its paranormal repercussions decades ago. While the guard's first night goes very smoothly, their second night takes a turn for the worse as its revealed that the animatronic Springtrap, actually an undead William Afton, has been moved to the attraction and is attempting to kill them. They are also plagued by apparent hallucinations of "Phantom Animatronics" that cause their machinery to malfunction when they jumpscare them.
During their work week, while they ward off Springtrap and the Phantoms, the guard interacts with parts of their office/the attraction which redirect the player to minigames where they plays as Balloon Boy, Mangle, Toy Chica, Fredbear, and Shadow Bonnie and bring the ghosts of Afton's victims to the "Happiest Day" minigame. When all five are assembled, the Puppet gifts the main ghost a birthday cake as the five ghost disappear, signifying their ascension. After the game's custom night, a newspaper report shows that Fazbear's Fright burned down due to faulty wiring (with the implication that the nightguard also had a hand in the blaze), although Springtrap survives and escapes.
Trivia[]
Though unclear, the community often credits this night guard with being responsible for both the fire in Fazbear's Fright and the Happiest Day minigame.
The guard is the only night guard protagonist in the series not to have their name/gender revealed.
The night guard is commonly speculated to be either Michael Afton or Henry Emily.
