Frank Heffley is a major character in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series, as well as its film adaptions. In the films, he is a major character in Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Rodrick Rules, and the deuteragonist of Dog Days.
He is the father of Rodrick, Greg, and Manny Heffley and the husband of Susan Heffley.
In the first three Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies, he is played by Steve Zahn. In the film adaptation of The Long Haul, he is played by Tom Everett Scott. In the Disney+ animated movies, he is voiced by Chris Diamantopoulos.
Why aren't they heroic or villainous?[]
- He doesn't do anything heroic due to his good actions only amounting to him being a nice and caring father.
Appearance[]
The book's illustrations depict Frank with an oval-like head, wearing a tie and suit with a few strands of curled hair.
In the films, he has brown hair, light skin, and wears a business suit just like in the books.
Personality[]
Frank is a hard worker, but has a poor relationship with all of his sons, having nothing in common with them. He strongly dislikes heavy metal music and Rodrick wanting to become a professional rock musician as he hates the band Loded Diper. While he does spoil Manny, unlike Susan, he seems to be frustrated with having to baby him all the time.
In his spare time, Frank builds a Civil War battlefield diorama that he keeps in the furnace room, sometimes preventing people from entering it, as he is very cautious and doesn't want anyone ruining his battlefield. In the Dog Days film, he had yelled at Greg and Rodrick when he found one of the figurines on the thermostat. He also takes the diorama very seriously, wanting it to be historically accurate as possible.
