First appearing in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Frostfang Barioth is a variant of Barioth.
Why aren't they heroic or villainous?[]
Physiology[]
The tusks of Frostfang Barioth are one of its most distinctive traits; they have taken on a dark hue that contrasts with the icy white coloring at the front, making the monster's tusks appear more frosty overall. In addition to having thicker fur on its face and forelimbs, Frostfang Barioth has an older appearance than the average person. In order to symbolize the Frostfang Barioth's enhanced capacity to use its sub-zero breath, a large portion of its body is covered in a type of frost.
Abilities and Behavior[]
Like Velkhana, Frostfang Barioth has a sub-zero breath attack that leaves a path of frost on the ground that lasts for a few seconds. The hunter who touches these frost tracks will become slow and covered in frost. Hunters are sent flying by its explosive ice projectile, which it can also breathe. Additionally, the Frostfang Barioth retains a lot of the original monster's physical abilities, which enable it to inflict severe harm on anyone unlucky enough to be caught in the incapacitating affects of its freezing breath. Frostfang Barioth, on the other hand, likes to bounce around less and use its breath attack more.
