Mr. Fulton Greenway is Walter Hobbs's boss, and the main antagonist of the 2003 Christmas comedy film Elf. The CEO of children's book publishing company Greenway Press, Greenway is a controlling, uncaring, grumpy, short-tempered, and condescending man feared by his employees, including Walter. His personality may have led Walter to become selfish and greedy while working for the company.

He was portrayed by the late Michael Lerner.

Biography

Greenway is the chairman and CEO of Greenway Press. He is a controlling, grumpy, short-tempered, uncaring and condescending man who is feared among his employees. He first appears in Walter's office with a failed children's book that Walter had published and his niece read. After complaining about how awful the book is (it has two missing pages, a nonsensical story, and a poor financial report), he firmly demands that Walter finds a new book to publish by December 24th which Walter does not want to do. Although it is Christmas Eve, Greenway does not seem to show any interest.

During the meeting to discuss the new book, Michael arrives and tells Walter that Buddy has run away. Walter tries to get him to leave, only for Michael to call him out on his selfishness. Walter asks Greenway to reschedule but Greenway coldly refuses. Walter finally stands up for himself and walks out of the room with Michael, to which Greenway furiously fires him.

Mr. Greenway's fate is unknown, but it is likely that he and his company began to suffer financial troubles.

Trivia

• In the live-action film, Greenway is only on screen for about two minutes total. He is given a much larger role in the TV special.
• In the live-action film he is called Mr. Greenway, but according to the credits, his first name is Fulton.
• In the Broadway musical, Mr Greenway claims he hasn't spent Christmas with his family in many years.
• It is possible that Walter's selfishness was a result of Greenway's treatment of him.
