Approximately 70 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous period, the ornithomimid theropod dinosaurs of the genus Gallimimus existed in Mongolia. Their name means "Chicken Mimic" because they most likely moved like contemporary flightless birds, making them the largest in their family. Gallimimus was toothless, in contrast to other theropods. Its head was actually quite small. This dinosaur was arguably one of the fastest; it could likely run up to thirty miles per hour and was as swift as an ostrich. Gallimimus is thought to have eaten insects, small animals, eggs, and possibly even some plants because of its small, toothless head. Their necks were significantly longer than those of any other theropod dinosaur.
Appearance[]
Gallimimus's hands were pronated, just like those of all the cloned theropods created by InGen. The cloned Gallimimus lacked feathers because to a Null allele that was produced by mutating and altering its genes and adding DNA from birds, reptiles, and frogs. The color pattern of the cloned Gallimimus changed according to the age and gender of the individual, and they moved in flocks.
The females were duller in color, with the majority of their bodies being peachy and three shades of brown (beige, sand, and tan) and, last but not least, their neck and head, which were purplish with dark purple stripes over with a streamline of orange leading up to the head which ended with a bright yellow. The males were occasionally bright orange with darkened patterns of red and orange from head to tail [citation needed]. The juveniles, in contrast to the adults, have a color pattern that is similar to fawn. They feature a variety of markings on their bodies and a mossy green, nearly translucent appearance.
Behavior[]
Since gallimimus live in broad fields and run long distances, it has been noted that they are gregarious animals that live in flocks or herds. Like birds, they exhibit a collective movement pattern in which they pivot and change direction collectively.
When the huge predator Scorpios rex poses a threat, gallimimus have been seen acting defensively. Gallimimus had a distinctive defense stance when confronted with the death of a member of their own species. They showed signs of toughness or anger by spreading their arms wide and making noises with their mouths. This action appeared to be an audible and visual cue to frighten the predator and make their presence known.
Although Gallimimus usually runs away from bigger predators, one individual, Geba, has been seen protecting himself from a raptor. In order to stamp down on the raptor's skull, Geba advances, rearing up as high as he can and raising one leg at a time. It simultaneously emits loud noises to ward off the predator and spreads its arms for additional intimidation. Geba's commitment to maintain its position rather than back down is demonstrated by this behavior.
It has been noted that gallimimus tends to run away rather than defend itself. Gallimimus, like a lot of other creatures, depends on its speed and range to be safe and stay safe from possible dangerous situations.
