The Gobul are a species that are from the science fantasy videogame, Monster Hunter 3.
Physiology[]
With characteristics similar to those of a catfish, such as the tentacles behind its mouth, Gobul is a uniquely developed leviathan that resembles anglerfish, stingrays, and puffer fish. The creature has purple scales all over its body, and a brilliant bioluminescent lure hangs from its brow. It has an enormous mouth with teeth that are just as strong. Its tail is furnished with quills that, if touched, have the power to paralyze. Its back is covered with a variety of retractable spines.
Abilities[]
Gobul can swallow prey nearly as big as itself entire thanks to its enormous mouth and neck. Its lure has the ability to forcefully release blinding bursts of light that confuse creatures and facilitate an easy meal. It can expand its body like a balloon to look more menacing when it gets furious. Gobul's ability to blend in with the riverbed and evade detection by prey is facilitated by its plant-like hairs on its chin.
Behavior[]
Until it is assaulted, Gobul is frequently quite docile. To blend in with the usual plants, it spends much of its time laying beneath the riverbed with only its whiskers showing. Even though it doesn't actively pursue prey, it occasionally climbs up on land despite its tendency to remain in the water.
Habitat[]
Gobul may be found on the Island of Desolation in the Flooded Forest. Though it can come ashore, it mostly stays in the region's numerous lakes and rivers.
