	~ The assimilated Greymatter trying to lure Nexo into RED spawn

Greymatter is the tritagonist of [SFM/HORROR] SERVERBLIGHT: Awareness, the sixth episode of the SFM horror series Serverblight by 2IdiotGermans. He is a Team Fortress 2 player who fell victim to the enigmatic titular Serverblight while he was trying to show one of his friends how to play the game.

Greymatter was voiced by Twitch streamer Galaxygn0me.

Past[]

At some point, Greymatter downloaded Team Fortress 2, acquiring cosmetics and befriending fellow player gods_god. At another point, gods_god introduced Greymatter to his friend Nexos, who was inexperienced in TF2.

Awareness[]

One day, Greymatter, gods_god, and Nexos joined RED on the same Doublecross server, gods_god wanting to help train Nexos in TF2 gameplay with Greymatter's help. Greymatter went Heavy while gods_god went Soldier and Nexos went Scout, and Greymatter then exited RED base onto the map's main bridge, where players were fiercely battling. As he ran out, Greymatter used voice chat to start telling Nexos about the dangers of spawn, only to be abruptly shot in the head by Pastra_gushes (BLU Sniper). After respawning, Greymatter exited the Respawn Room, only to find Nexos standing idly outside it, staring blankly at the Heavy. Realizing that Nexos was trying to talk but was unable to, Greymatter reminded him that the voice chat button was v.

Now aware, Nexos went on the voice chat and protested that he only played Minecraft as of late, so he didn't know what the default Team Fortress 2 buttons were. gods_god then exited spawn and warned that Pastra_gushes was a really good Sniper. The three then went out to try to make a push into BLU base, but were opposed by a BLU Heavy/Medic pair on the bridge. Greymatter attempted to fight the pair in melee with his Warrior's Spirit, but was forced to retreat, gods_god directing Nexos to rush in to finish it. Despite his inexperience, Nexos managed to get in close and kill the Heavy, allowing Greymatter to sneak up behind the Medic and kill him with a critical punch, performing the Schadenfreude taunt after. gods_god then told Nexos how to taunt, which Nexos eagerly undertook- but promptly related it to Fortnite emotes, annoying Greymatter. gods_god tried to assure him that Nexos would get the hang of the game in no time, but Nexos strained Greymatter's confidence by then relating taunts to crouching in Minecraft.

After gods_god showed Nexos how to do a partner taunt, Greymatter directed them both to follow him through the sewers into BLU base. All three dropped down from the bridge to the second bridge below, taking fall damage and prompting Greymatter to direct Nexos to a nearby healthpack. Greymatter then left to the sewers, eventually followed by his teammates after they had a strange encounter with Sigismund0 (RED Soldier), only noticing they were slow to follow after hearing them talk about a "hella broken" animation.

After getting to BLU base, gods_god assumed the BLU team was camping the intel, as they had seen an odd absence of enemies, but Greymatter instead proposed they charge the intel. However, as they got into the base, they found a continued absence of players, confusing them. Figuring they got lucky, gods_god reminded them that they were one point away from winning the game, but as he was explaining that to Nexos, a frightened BLU Soldier (theGrimJester) rushed down from BLU spawn and attacked the three in a panic, killing Greymatter before being killed by Nexos. While waiting to respawn, Greymatter deadpanned that now it was up to the pair.

However, when Greymatter respawned, he respawned directly into an amalgamation of RED players- as it turns out, the absence of players and the odd behavior of Sigismund0 were all the machinations of the Serverblight, which had invaded the server and began assimilating both teams. As such, Greymatter was immediately assimilated.

Shortly afterwards, Nexos got back to RED base with the BLU intel, gods_god having been assimilated as well. The assimilated Greymatter, standing on the stairs to RED spawn while hiding his face, was used by the Serverblight to try to lure in Nexos, which repeated Greymatter's voicelines from earlier in the game, asking Nexos to "get the health" while indicating to go to RED spawn. However, Nexos saw through the ruse, fleeing as Greymatter dropped into an unnatural stance and summoned the RED spawn's amalgamation, which chased Nexos to the RED intel room. However, before the amalgam could get into the room, Nexos jumped into the capture zone, capturing the BLU intel and winning the game for RED, automatically disconnecting.

While Nexos escaped, the rest of the assimilated players were left in the server under the Serverblight's control, the round resetting and returning Greymatter to RED spawn in normal form as a couple new players joined.
