The Hermitaurs are carapaceons that is first seen in Monster Hunter 2.
Why aren't they heroic or villainous?[]
Physiology[]
Hermit crab-like creatures with thick white shells and scarlet carapaces are called hermaitaurs. The crab grows its own shell; it will only swap it out for a Monoblos skull (or a Black Diablos skull if it grows into a Plum Daimyo Hermitaur) when it becomes much larger and a Daimyo Hermitaur. The Ceanataur, a blue carapaceon that inhabits volcanic areas, is linked to hermitaurs.
Behavior[]
Hermitaurs are most frequently observed using their claws to pick through sand when left alone, most likely in quest of food. A hermitaur may occasionally hide beneath the ground for a hunter or prey to pass by, then leap out of hiding to strike them as they pass overhead. The clouds of dust that a Hermitaur regularly spits out are indicative of its underground burrow.
Habitat[]
They are primarily found in deserts and jungles, usually close to bodies of water, though they can also be found in swamp cave systems.
