Ian is the main antagonist in the 2018 independent film, Mid90s. He is the older brother of Stevie to whom he frequently fights with, yet despite this, Ian eventually showed to have a more caring side to the bond he has with his younger brother.
He was portrayed by Lucas Hedges.
Personality[]
Although towards the end of the movie Ian has improved and has followed a redemption pact with his brother, Ian seems to be a very lonely and sad person, as a child he was beaten and treated badly by his mother and his childhood was probably lonely and perhaps he received bullying. His childhood traumas have transformed him into a person with temper tantrums with anger issues, an insecure and headstrong person, a jealous and envious person and with a hateful character towards his brother. Towards the end he follows a redemption pact by connecting with his younger brother after the accident he became a better person, in the future he most likely changed completely.
Story[]
Mid90s[]
Ian often appears at home arguing with his brother or mother, however at the beginning he is quite calm and goes about his business, his brother Stevie instead is looking for friends who can change his sad and lonely lifestyle. Stevie slowly reaches this goal, and Ian begins to become suspicious, one day Stevie makes Ian angry and the latter beats him with punches in the stomach, then leaves. After that incident Ian tries to reconnect with his brother but after seeing him on the street with his friends from the "ghetto" he gets jealous.
One night Stevie comes back drunk and high and Ian angry and envious attacks him starting to weigh him down Stevie runs away but then rebels however he is beaten again by his brother who overwhelms him, after the beating the younger brother goes to the bedroom and attempts suicide, while Ian cries and screams in the kitchen.
One day Stevie and his group consisting of Ray, Ruben and Fourth Grade get in the car with the self-destructive Fuckshit who was drunk the latter crashes sending Stevia to the hospital. So the brother and mother show up finding his friends asleep outside Stevie's room, after the mother the brother comes in and gives Stevie a juice and with a comment the two remain in silence calm. Over time the two have probably reconciled and have become better brothers and people.
