Ivan the Doorman (or just Ivan) is the secondary antagonist of Imagine Entertainment's 1st animated feature film Curious George, a minor antagonist in the 2006 video game adaption of the same name, and a minor character in Curious George 2: Follow that Monkey and Curious George: Royal Monkey.
He is a doorman in Ted Shackleford's apartment in New York with a thick Russian accent who strictly follows his "no-pet" policy, with him kicking out whoever owns the pet out of the apartment, with the pet being sent back to the pound.
He was voiced by Ed O'Ross.
Why he isn't heroic or villainous?[]
- He isn't a hero as he doesn't do anything heroic.
- He isn't a villain but rather a jerk whose actions only amount to him doing his job.
Personality[]
Ivan is shown to be a cranky, yet also very strict doorman who enforces his "no-pet" policy on others, as he dislikes pets. At the end of the film, however, he became friendlier as he liked the painting George did on his back, also allowing Ted to move back into his apartment.
Biography[]
Curious George (2006)[]
In the film, Ivan works as a doorman in the apartment Ted lives in. After George reveals to Ted that he followed him all the way back from Africa to New York, Ivan started to smell a "pet" through the vents, suspecting Ted has one. He goes through all the floors and stops at Ted's to go knock on his door (7-10-B) for him to open up. Ted hides George in the bathroom so he could stay there, but George escapes through the vent.
Ivan told Ted that he could smell a pet, but he tried stalling him to no avail as Ivan pushes him out the way and enters his house anyway. While he continues to search for the "pet", Ted distracts him to prevent him from finding George easier. Eventually, Ivan does find Ted with George in Miss Plushbuttom's room, saying he knew he had a pet all along. Ted tried denying this to no avail, as George had made a painting of him and Ted on the wall. Ivan then chases the two out of the apartment and tells Ted that he is kicked from the building. Ted says he would rather have George kicked out instead of him, but Ivan still told him to leave, and the two are forced to sleep outside in a park.
At the end of the film, Ivan found Ted and told him he actually liked the painting George did on his back and let him move back into his apartment after he had found the real Lost Shrine of Zagawa, redeeming himself.
Curious George 2[]
TBA
Video Game[]
He only appears in the level "Apartment Antics". George must get to the end of the hall and avoid being caught by Ivan. When George is in the bathroom, he bangs on the door for him to open up, telling him that he will be sent to the pound and Ted will be evicted from the apartment. The knocking makes one of the vents open, allowing George to escape. He then disguises as a little girl so Ivan cannot recognize him whilst helping a painter find his paintbrushes. After the bubble minigame in Miss Plushbottom's room, Ivan kicks George and Ted out of the apartment like in the movie, forcing the two to sleep outside in a park where the next level takes place.
