Javier Rios is a major antagonist from the movie, Monsters University.
Personality[]
Javier is a member of the Roar Omega Roar and one of Johnny Worthington III's goons. He is the quiet one on Johnny's squad, yet he has the demeanor of a "calm kid." When someone laughs or screams, Javier normally doesn't say anything. He frequently appears with a scowl on his face, more specifically, he appears with an expressionless expression the majority of the time. Nevertheless, Javier would occasionally grin, like when he attempted to play ping pong, participated in the Oozma Kappa practical joke, and later during the Scare Games championship match.
Appearance[]
Javier has features similar to an insect, including four arms, two legs, four purple eyes, and two antennae. He also has the appearance of a blue arthropod. In order to shield his head from blows, he may also withdraw within his shell, as demonstrated when Mike and Sulley knock Dean Hardscrabble's screaming canister, which flits around the room. Furthermore, instead of roaring or making a sound, Javier's sound during the Scare Games is a snake-like hiss that rattles.
Biography[]
When Mike and Sulley are trying to stop Archie from making additional trouble, Javier is seen competing against an opponent in a game of ping pong at a residence where JOX is hosting a party. As Sulley rushes to catch up, Javier and his opponent spot Mike and Archie walking by. Javier reacts fearfully when he sees Sulley shattering the ping pong table they are using. After catching Archie, Javier is next seen hanging out with Johnny Worthington III and the other members of his team, Roar Omega Roar. When Mike tries to join, the group teases him for his innocent appearance; instead, they accept Sulley because his family is well-known for being scarers; however, when they learn of Sulley's poor academic performance, they threaten to expel him from the group.
Javier and the other members of the R\R team compete in the Toxicity Challenge at the Scare Games against other teams. Thanks to their talent, the RΩR team wins every challenge and has tremendous success in the games. Nevertheless, after two rounds, Oozma Kappa manages to continue competing despite all odds. Later, Javier is spotted with the other members of RΩR, inviting the Oozma Kappas to their fraternity house on the pretext of their previous efforts in the Scare Games. However, it soon becomes clear that RΩR was setting up a trap to make OK look bad by taking embarrassing group photos, which they would later sell on various products. Though this does dampen OK's enthusiasm, R\R's tactics fail because OK grows increasingly driven to win and ultimately perform better and better in the Scare Games.
Javier and the other members of R©R battle against the Oozma Kappas in the final event of the fear Game Finals, which is a fear simulator race. Javier competes against Art in the finals, and while Art hisses at the simulated youngster violently, which makes Javier's score go down, Art also terrifies the child, which makes Javier's score go up. But all of a sudden, Oozma Kappa overcomes R\R and beats Johnny's team. Sulley intends to speak with Dean Hardscrabble about the tampering he performed before Javier and the other members of Roar Omega Roar contact him and try to get him back on Johnny's side after Sulley noticed he had tampered with the settings.
Javier does not reappear thereafter, although it was eventually revealed in the end credits that he started working for Monsters, Inc. and developed into a scarer there, as shown by the Scare Card. After the events of Monsters, Inc., he probably became a jokester after the eponymous company transitioned to laugh power.
