Joey Caruso, also simply known as Caruso, is the main antagonist in the live-action series Everybody Hates Chris and the animated series Everybody Still Hates Chris. Caruso is the school bully of Corleone Jr. High whose main target is Chris, but sometimes it is Greg.

In Everybody Hates Chris, he was portrayed by Travis T. Flory and in Everybody Still Hates Chris, he is voiced by Mikey Kelley.

Biography[]

Throughout the series, Caruso was very racist towards Chris due to him being black. He would often beat up Chris and do things that would get him in trouble or sometimes make him fail a school assignment.

In the series finale, it is revealed that Caruso actually admires Chris and the only reason he has picked on Chris in school is that he has been jealous of his determination and achievement and had crushed his spirit only so he would not feel inferior.

Chris then asks who Caruso will bully in his absence when he drops out of school and Caruso immediately punches Greg. Joey Caruso eventually gets beaten up in the episode "Everybody Hates Caruso" by Bernard Yao, a Chinese student at Corleone. Caruso's bullying comes back when Chris gets revenge of Caruso in the episode "Everybody Hates the Last Day".

Personality[]

In terms of intelligence, Caruso is usually tricky, but clearly not very intelligent. This is made visible by his poor grades despite his efforts to escape doing his own assignments. Caruso is also extremely racist, often going out of his way to make prejudiced remarks towards Chris.

Although Caruso is racist and often makes fun of Chris because of it, he is by no means limited to him. He outright admits he’s not above beating up other kids of his own race (especially when Chris is absent). This also well implies Caruso to be indiscriminately racist, since it suggests he likewise makes fun of them however he can the same ways.
