| “ | Penny, your shell is part of your heritage; it comes from your ancestors. | „ |
| ~ Judith in "The Transformation. |
Judith Fitzgerald is a minor character in The Amazing World of Gumball.
She is the wife of Patrick and the mother of Penny and Polly. Unlike her husband, Judith approves of Gumball and Penny's relationship.
She is voiced by Maria Teresa Creasey.
Why isn't she heroic or villainous?[]
- Unlike her family she has no major roles and also does nothing heroic at all.
- Even though in "The Gripes" she tries to offer Gumball and Darwin her kidney when she believed that they needed it due to the constantly complaining to the point where the Elmore's citizens believed that they needed help this is more treated as a joke rather than a heroic act since they were not dying and did not need her kidney.
- Most of her other actions amount to kindness and being a good person rather than a hero.
- While she (subtly) threatens to kill Gumball if he doesn't choose the right decision for the Fitzgerald Family, between breaking out of their shells or not, in "The Transformation" this is played for dark comedy rather than a villainous deed and she never attempts to kill him directly.
Appearance[]
Judith Fitzgerald is a presumably a shape-shifting fairy and has a similar appearance to Penny in season 2 and her younger daughter, Polly. Compared to her older daughter, Penny, she is noticeably taller and has smaller antlers than her. She wears grey cowboy boots.
In her early years, she wore a yellow dress and a blonde wig.
In the storyboard for "The Date," her shell was oval-shaped, like her daughter's season 1 design.
Personality[]
Not much is known about her personality, but she seems to be extremely generous, as she was willing to give Gumball and Darwin large amounts of money, her boots, her ring and even her kidney when she felt they needed help, as seen in "The Gripes." She also has an open mind for the relationship with Gumball and Penny as shown in the episode "The Knights."
In "The Transformation," a sadistic side of her is shown. She tries to threaten Gumball to have Penny go back in her shell by making a cookie that appears to be Gumball getting torn in half.
According to Penny in "The Romantic," she is inept and dumb at technology, as she once took a broken mouse to the vet, or when her laptop wasn't working, she sprayed it with insecticide.
Trivia[]
- She is the only member of the Fitzgerald family whose name doesn't start with the letter "P."
- Her first appearance is ironically "The DVD" before her daughter, Penny.
