The Lunastra is a female Elder Dragon that is introduced in Monster Hunter 2.
Physiology[]
The dragon Lunastra has amazing coloring and lion-like traits. She sports a noticeable mane, enormous teeth, and a characteristic crest that looks like a crown. Her wings have hair all over them. She represents Teostra's feminine counterpart.
Abilities[]
Unlike other monsters, Lunastra and her mate Teostra utilize their Flame Sac to create a fire breathing effect as opposed to merely a beam or fireball. Before Monster Hunter: World, Lunastra had the ability to create a highly combustible powder and disperse it across the air using her wings. She then clenches her teeth to produce a spark, which ignites and bursts the powder surrounding her. The explosions have unpredictable range; they might be either close, somewhat far away or extremely far away from where she's standing. Red flames indicate that the explosions will be close together, while yellow sparks indicate that the explosions will be farther out.
But Lunastra is no longer able to scatter powder in the air to cause explosions in Monster Hunter: World. Rather, she covers the ground with blue powder, which catches fire and ignites, creating a blue flame that gradually harms anyone standing in it and depletes the health of anyone nearby without any form of heat protection—even in places where it shouldn't be necessary, like cool drinks. Her wings are typically used to disperse this powder, causing a powerful wind that momentarily paralyzes hunters. A fire attack that encounters the blue flames will inflict damage and intensify the wind. You may use any water weapon to put out the blue flames. In addition, Lunastra may produce blue flames almost wherever it can reach, a tremendous heat wave that swiftly depletes the health of everyone in its path, and wind pressure that makes it impossible for any hunters trapped in it to flee.
Although the two are rarely seen together, Lunastra is the Teostra's feminine counterpart. However, they are able to perform a unique bond attack when seen together in Monster Hunter: World. This is unique to no other monster and is a result of Teostra's supernova and Lunastra's heat wave combined.
Similar to Teostra, before Monster Hunter: World, she may lose some of her capacity to produce flames if she was poisoned if her structure of horns, which resembled a crown, was damaged.
Behavior[]
Though Lunastra are generally considered to be slower to attack, this changes during their mating season when they attack at first sight, much like their male counterparts. Despite this, they are still highly violent.
Habitat[]
They are recognized for living in hot climates, such as deserts and volcanoes, and for having evolved particularly to make use of the element of fire.
