Mario Andretti is a minor character from Cars, being a veteran race car who is considered one of the most universally successful racers in history. He is based on, named after, and voiced by a real-life retired racer named Mario Andretti.

Mario Andretti attends the tiebreaker race in California. While greeting security guards, Fred, a rusty car with his name on his license plate, greets Mario. Mario replies, "Good morning to you, uh, Fred." Fred is thrilled that Mario knows his name and excitedly tells Marco Axelbender about it.

- He is based on, named after and voiced by Mario Andretti himself, a retired NASCAR and Formula One driver.
- He is also one of the few racers in the Cars franchise to not have his name be car-ified or have a pun based name.
