The Mean Cop is a minor character in Dav Pilkey's Dog Man book series.

He is a male police officer who regularly antagonizes the titular character just for fun, along with his best friend Maude. Despite this, he is just a simple police officer who usually is a mildly decent person.

Why aren't they heroic or villainous?[]

  • While he's a police officer arresting criminals, he's rarely portrayed as a hero as most of his arrests are unclear and he only has one arrest which is on Dog Man who is innocent, even if he didn't know about it.
  • While he tends to be a bully to Dog Man to the point that it brings his hopes down, he doesn't have any actual crimes to his name, making him a simple jerk.

Appearance[]

He is shown to have tan skin with a pig-like nose and is usually shown wearing the usual police attire, a blue shirt and hat, dark blue pants, brown shoes, and two yellow badges both on his shirt and hat.

Personality[]

He is shown to be cruel and unfair to Dog Man, likewise with Maude. Excluding his relationship with Dog Man, he is shown to be a relatively good person, arresting villains and crooks.

History[]

Dog Man[]

He appears throughout the first Dog Man book periodically. Just like the other cops excluding Dog Man and Chief, he is just a mere cameo character and nothing more.

Dog Man Unleashed[]

The second book is the first book that shows him and Maude together. Despite this, they are not shown to be the bestest of friends yet just simply workmates. Here, they prepare for Chief's birthday party and is one of the two cops responsible for decorations. He and Maude are later seen again giving Chief a can of "Supa Brain Dots", a medicine implied to improve memory, however, it has not shown to have worked throughout the series.

A Tale of Two Kitties[]

He and Maude are seen together once again in the third book, where they mildly bug Dog Man after he hides in shame for losing the body of a deceased Flippy. This book unearths his and Maude's antagonistic behaviors.

Dog Man and Cat Kid[]

Like in the previous book, he and Maude are shown bugging Dog Man once again after the latter was fired from being Yolay Caprese's bodyguard. However, Chief stops the two and comforts Dog Man afterward.

Trivia[]

  • For some time, he had a page on the Villains Wiki along with Maude since it was believed that the mean cop was still mildly villainous.
