Molten Tigrex are a Rare Species introduced in Monster Hunter 4. They are a rare subspecies of Tigrex that dwell in the enigmatic Fonron region, making their homes in the ruins and hunting in the forests. Their strange ecologies and unique blast-attuned capabilities make them a subject of exceptional interest to the Hunter's Guild, leading them to occasionally send hunters to claim specimens for them.
Physiology[]
Molten Tigrex are distinguished from regular Tigrex by their significantly larger sizes and vivid red hides. They possess deep blue wing tips, claws and wing membranes. When enraged their skin is covered in vivid, angry red arteries.
Abilities[]
Molten Tigrex are especially powerful predators that few monsters could ever hope of fighting back against, leading to a near complete lack of competitiors. They possess extremely rapid metabolisms akin to Brute Tigrex but can regulate their body temperatures much better thanks to an incredibly powerful heart, giving them a greater stamina and removing any drawbacks they would normally possess. Molten Tigrex also possess extremely powerful roars that rival Brute Tigrex, owing to their large sizes.
As a result of their rapid metabolisms, the scales of a Brute Tigrex are prone to drying out and flaking off, constantly surrounding the wyvern in an aerosol of highly flammable dust. A Brute Tigrex can ignite these scales by scraping its flint-like scales on the ground, producing a powerful detonation that can shred bone and flesh. Additionally, Brute Tigrex can boost their metabolism even further than other Tigrex, increasing their speed and power tremendously. This ability is incredibly taxing on its heart, so they must regulate themselves to prevent overexertion or even their hearts exploding.
Behavior[]
Thanks to their complete dominance of the surrounding habitat, Molten Tigrex are fairly placid monsters that don't bother to attack humans much. This all changes when they are disturbed, hungry, or view another creature as a challenger, as they display incredible ferocity and won't hesitate to rip their opponents to shreds. While initially slow and sluggish thanks to their large sizes, Molten Tigrex gradually build up speed and become even more formidable as the battle rages on.
Habitat[]
Because of the chilly climate and the availability of huge prey nearby, it is only found in the Tower on the Tower Summit.
