~ Mr. Draybick to Greg. |
Mr. Draybick is a minor character of the 2011 liveaction film Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, based on the 2008 novel of the same name. He is a teacher who dislikes Greg Heffley due to the fact he is related to Rodrick, who was presumably a problematic student in his class.
He is portrayed by John Shaw.
Why aren't they heroic or villainous?[]
- He isn't a villain as all he does is embarrass Greg for being related to Rodrick, and besides that, he is just a strict teacher.
Biography[]
On Greg's first day of 7th grade, he tries sitting next to Holly in class, but Patty stops him, as she also wants to sit there. They begin fighting over the seat until Mr. Draybick walks into the classroom and asks for their names, but once Greg says his last name, he asks if he is related to Rodrick Heffley and orders him to sit in the front of the class instead so he could keep an eye on him.
He then assigns the class with a project about events that happened hundreds of years ago, which was the same project he assigned to Rodrick when he was in his class. Greg does not make his project, and unintentionally turns in Rodrick's old poem that makes him fail. Mr. Draybick knows about this and humiliates Greg by making him read it out loud to his classmates. When Patty snitched on Greg for thinking he was passing her notes, Mr. Draybick reads it out loud and makes Greg sit next to him at his desk.
In Dog Days, Mr. Draybick tells the class to take out their notebooks, and wasn't surprised once he saw how Greg was the only one who didn't bring one. Fregley asks Mr. Draybick if he could share his textbook with Greg, and he agrees after seeing the uncomfortable look on Greg's face. He then gives the class free time for the rest of the period.
Personality[]
Mr. Draybick is shown to be a biased and strict teacher who dislikes Greg for no reason other than being related to Rodrick, who was presumably a problematic student in his class. He enjoys humiliating Greg and causing him misfortune, such as making him read Rodrick's poem in front of the class, showing no remorse for doing so.
