~ Nostalgia arriving to Emotion Headquarters |
Nostalgia is a minor character in Pixar's 28th full-length feature film Inside Out 2.
She is one of the five new emotions inside of Riley Andersen's mind. Apparently, she is not needed yet (like Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui weren't in the first film) and still, according to Anxiety, Riley has ten years, two graduations, and a best friend's wedding until she is needed.
She is voiced by June Squibb.
Appearance[]
Nostalgia in Riley's mind represents as an elderly lady with a gray colored tone and brown clothes. She has taupe colored wrinkled skin and white, curly hair. She wears a brown dress with a green and pink plaid shawl as well as dark red plaid slippers. She also wears white and pink gradient rimmed glasses with pink lenses.
Biography[]
Nostalgia is first seen coming up to headquarters and recalling that exact memory, and Ennui replies that it was about 30 seconds ago, but Anxiety sends her away since she is not needed yet.
She appears again at the very end of the movie, recalling Riley's moments with Grace and Bree. Everyone tells her not to hurry since she still isn't needed yet, and she tells them that she'll always be downstairs if they need her.
Personality[]
Nostalgia is the literal embodiment of recalling memories from the past. She has a tendency to come up and recall memories that have happened recently (at least from what is seen in the film). So far, she is shown to be a friendly emotion.
Why isn't she heroic or villainous?[]
- She only makes two appearances in the film to recall memories, therefore she has not committed any heroic or villainous acts.
Trivia[]
- Nostalgia is the oldest out of all the emotions appearance wise.
- Her appearance would most likely represent how when one experiences nostalgia, it makes them feel old.
- The color of Nostalgia's glasses are rose, symbolizing the term "rose-tinted glasses", which means remembering something as being better than it actually was.
- Nostalgia only appears twice in the film, the least out of all the main emotions.
- Nostalgia doesn't appear in any main posters or advertisements for the film.
- The fact Nostalgia keeps popping up at HQ would be the likely answer to why we don't see other emotions besides Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust on adults, with them only appearing when they are necessary, making the core 5 "primary" emotions, and the new emotions "secondary" emotions.
- This also ties back into the original concept of the first movie, where there was a total of 27 emotions residing with in Riley's head, and the vast majority residing in the back until called up when needed.
