Otis is a minor character in Pixar's 12th full-lenght animated feauture film Cars 2. He is a rusted lemon who lives in Radiator Springs and often breaks down. He is also good friends with Mater.
He was voiced by Jeff Garlin.
Biography[]
Otis arrived in Radiator Springs sometime before the events of Cars 2. In the movie, he was first seen broken down on the side of the road on his way to Radiator Springs until Mater comes by to salvage him. Otis apologizes to Mater that despite what he thought of himself, he still didn't make far enough. When Mater sees that Lightning McQueen is back home, he rushes to go see him, forgetting he was towing Otis, and Otis was getting dragged causing some sparks. When Mater finally got to McQueen, he releases Otis, sending him spinning out into Ramone's House of Body Art. Sally and Flo got out of the way, then Ramone asks how far he made it. Otis claims to have went halfway across the county line.
He appears a final time at the end of the movie. When Mater uses his spy rockets that Shiftwell and Finn McMissile let him keep, he speeds right by Otis (who is broken down yet again), picking him up immediately and towing him again, but this time he's going so fast, Otis is actually having a nice time.
Personality[]
Otis is a sweet car with a ton of charm, persistence and a nice sky-blue color, but also a "lemon", a car with major mechanical flaws. Otis is embarrassed by the fact that he is a "lemon" but unlike the antagonistic lemons, he and everyone around him accepts that fact.
Unlike other lemons (especially Grem and Acer), Otis is not involved in their plot and has no evil intentions at all whatsoever. He is generally kind and compassionate, as he always thanks Mater for his service no matter how he was dragged to repairs (despite the carnage ripped on him on the way). He appreciates how Mater always treats him with respect.
Appearence[]
Otis is painted light blue, with a rusty tan bumper and gray headlights. He has chrome rims. He is a 1972 Shyster Cremlin. a model based on the Lada Riva 2107 (despite Otis being American), with a license plate reading "06 05 62", which represents his voice actor, which is Jeff Garlin's birthday (June 5, 1962). He has a chrome grille. Ironically, the front end heavily resembles a retro-modern version of the 2007-2013 GMC Sierra (albeit continuing production by two years later after the events of the film, and different inner grille bars), despite Otis being actually classified as a supermini car (Fred also shares this too).

- In the description of "Mater is the Best Tow Truck in Town!" on the official Pixar Cars YouTube channel, for some reason Otis is accidentally mistakenly referred to as Stanley, the founder of Radiator Springs.
- Otis also appears in the Cars Daredevil Garage app via his diecast.
