Polar bears are neutral mobs that live in icy biomes.
Habitat[]
In groups of up to two at light level 7 or higher, polar bears spawn above grass or ice in snowy plains, ice spikes, and ordinary and deep-frozen ocean biomes. The second polar bear in a group is a cub. Additionally, they can spawn on icy slopes, frozen rivers, legacy frozen oceans, and occasionally at the jagged peaks and frozen summits in Bedrock Edition.
Behavior[]
Polar bears can be either docile or aggressive. The adults are aggressive when they are around cubs or provoked (unless they are slain in a single hit [JE only]); in the Bedrock edition, adults additionally attack if a player approaches cubs. The cubs are passive.
Regardless of difficulty, all adults in a 41×21×41 area turn hostile toward the player or mob if a cub is assaulted, unless it is killed in a single hit [JE only].
However, in Peaceful difficulty, their attacks inflict no harm on players. Other adults within a 21×21×21 region of the assaulted adult are likewise provoked when an adult is attacked inside a 16×8×16 area of a cub. Foxes are also attacked by polar bears.
In order to attack, polar bears rear on their back legs and use their front paws to maul down. When attacking in the water, they are hard to escape from because their swimming speed is equal to the player's.
The growth of cubs cannot be accelerated, and polar bears cannot procreate.
Powder snow does not cause freezing harm to them.
