The unnamed Priest (神官), is one of the supporting characters of Taiwanese animated series Brave Animated Series, based on the comic Brave Series (勇者系列) by Yellow Book. He is the highest religious leader and authority in Brave Kingdom, and presides over the "Brave Selection Contest".
He is voiced by Taiwnaese actor Liu Kuan-ting, who also voices Cameraman, First Brave and Sorry Brave in the animated series.
Why Isn't He Heroic Nor Villainous?[]
- Due to the small number of episodes of the Priest's history in this animated series, it is impossible to determine whether he is a hero or a villain.
- He's only shown doing his duty as a recruiter in one episode, and the cleric chooses to avoid answering the protagonist's questions rather than being dismissive, which is not heroic or villainous in any way.
Story[]
The Priest represents the deeply entrenched and self-serving bureaucratic establishment of Brave Kingdom. His actions are not driven by passionate malice, but by the cold calculation necessary to keep the perpetual war machine funded and running smoothly. His most defining scene occurs during the Annual Brave Selection Contest. When the protagonist (the future Main Brave) asks a crucial moral question—whether Morewant is truly evil or if it is merely a matter of differing standpoints—the Priest provides a textbook example of official evasion. Instead of addressing the ethical dilemma, he completely sidesteps the question, immediately redirecting the candidate's focus to the "stable income and generous benefits" of being a Brave.
Appearance[]
The Priest's appearance reinforces his role as an aged, solemn figure of authority:
- He possesses a large, bushy, reddish-brown beard and matching hair.
- He wears small, pince-nez (half-moon spectacles).
- His expression is typically serious and unyielding, projecting the demeanor of a high-ranking official who is accustomed to obedience.
Personality[]
The Priest's personality is characterized by rigid adherence to doctrine and bureaucratic evasion:
- Evasive and Strategic: He demonstrates a sophisticated ability to avoid sensitive topics that threaten the Church's narrative. His tactic is to swap moral inquiry with material incentives, effectively training new Braves to prioritize profit and position over truth.
- Bureaucratic: He views the conflict with the Demons as a simple organizational necessity, not a moral struggle. His concern lies entirely with ensuring the system continues to produce compliant soldiers who will not ask difficult questions.

Trivia[]
- In the oringinal comics, he has a title of "Description Brave". He faced the "Dark Idol", a demonic humanoid, and defended himself. He was later killed in the line of duty when he was defeated by her.
