Queen Valerin is the overarching protagonist of the 2023 Netflix film, Nimona. She was the reigning monarch of the Kingdom that believed that anyone could train to be a knight. She was assassinated by the Director, who went on to frame Ballister Boldheart for the murder, starting the events of the film.
Why is she not a Hero?[]
- Despite wanting to grant knighthood to common people, and also attempting to grant knighthood to Ballister, she does nothing else heroic and doesn't have a big role in the story despite starting the events of the story
Biography[]
Valerin accepts Ballister Boldheart into the knight training facility, despite the Director's protests. After Ambrosis Goldenloin was knighted by her, she prepares to knight Ballister, until out of nowhere, the sword blasts her, killing her instantly. She dies in the Director's arms, while Ballister was convicted for her death.
It was later revealed that the Director had swapped Ballister's sword with the one used to kill Valerin. After Nimona defeats the Director (who dies in the process), she finally received justice, and the walls of the Kingdom are opened.
Trivia[]
- She's a completely original character as she doesn't appear in the webcomic and is only exclusive to the film adaptation.
- She's the second icon of the Spoilers template, replacing Zara Young who was later removed from neutral characters wiki entirely.
