The Rejected Mercenary Candidates are minor character from the web series Animator vs. Animation by Alan Becker. They appear in the titular episode, Mercenary Tryouts as the main characters.
They are a group consisting of various stick figures and similar character from other different types of media, who attempt to join Rocket Corp's newest mercenary group. The top three, Hazard, Primal, and Ballista are the top-ranking and selected mercenaries, while the rest become rejected.
Why aren't they heroic or villainous?[]
- All of the rejected mercenaries are simply those neutral who are just following orders from Agent to possibly join their group. Besides that, it is implied they wouldn't know they would be apart of said mercenary group and commit crimes, as the flyer advertising the tryouts were vague and didn't disclose Rocket Corp's darker plans other than to offer a spot to earn money.
Biography[]
After The Disintegration incident caused on Newgrounds in 2011, victim and Agent would eventually become vengeful and compromise a plan to recruit any mercenaries at Rocket Corp. Sometime between 2018 and 2023, the company would hold auditions at the headquarters and advertise it across the Outernet. Gildedguy notices one of these flyers and runs over to Rocket Corp to receive a spot in the tryouts. At the headquarters, many character, mostly comprised of stick figures line up single-filed and are placed in a box to showcase their combat skills and abilities to Agent by fighting a worker. All 130 candidates are then ranked on a graded scale based on their power, utility, avail, and cost. The top three are then selected and recruited, those being Hazard, Primal, and Ballista, while the rest end up being rejected by Rocket Corp. By the time Gildedguy makes it to the headquarters, the auditions have already ended and he leaves, dejected.
