Monster Hunter 4 introduced the Ruby Basarios, a subspecies of Basarios that are Flying Wyverns.
Physiology[]
The collection of pink crystals that protrude from all over this species of Basarios' back is its most striking feature; this suggests that its food differs significantly from that of its rocky cousin. Because of its habitat, which is rich in vegetation, it also has a thick layer of moss covering its body.
Abilities[]
It has a very resilient shell that is hard to break through. By shaking its body back and forth, it can shoot crystals from its back.
Behavior[]
This subspecies, like the ordinary Basarios, loves to hide as rocks and spend most of its time buried in the ground. If disturbed, it will attack; however, if a hunter or other monster approaches it while it is in this state, it will not react violently.
Habitat[]
Presumably because the pink crystals it consumes are unique to the Everwood, this subspecies is only found there.
