The Scorpios rex are the major antagonists from the TV series, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous who appeared as the main antagonist of the third season.

Why aren’t they heroic or villainous?[]

  • Although highly destructive, all these are just animal behavior without moral agency, unlike the Indominus rex and Indoraptor which have some sapience.

Biography[]

Dr. Henry Wu sought to make a hybrid dinosaur with Simon Masrani's approval. The first successful hybrid dinosaur Morocco was the Scorpios rex. The notes Brooklynn had in "The Watering Hole" contained increasing numerals on each page: 1309, 1310, 1311, and, much later in notes, E750, suggesting that there may have been several efforts to build the Scorpios rex. Pages 1309 and 1310 display letter combinations utilized in DNA sequences, although they are not arranged in a sequence. Dr. Wu's creation was the first genetically altered dinosaur, coming before the Indominus rex, Indoraptor, and all other hybrids that occurred before those final two. Wu insisted on maintaining the hybrid despite several failures and Masrani's argument that the dinosaur was too horrifying to be displayed. However, Wu soon came to the conclusion that the Scorpios' uncontrolled aggression made them much too dangerous to be released, let alone positioned as a park attraction for the general public, after narrowly escaping an assault from the hybrid one day. Masrani deemed the monster to be too unstable, so Wu stopped the experiment and decided never to unleash the Scorpios and kept it in a cryogenic suspension until he could find out and demonstrate how to make it considerably less hostile. Few people were genuinely aware of the hybrid's existence because of how well this information was kept.

A flashing button irritated Kenji Kon while he was examining an electrical circuit; he continued to click it until it short-circuited the creature's containment tube, causing the cryogenic chamber to heat up and burst open and the light to go out. The Scorpios rex was partially kept frozen until a Compsognathus broke through a cable, allowing the hybrid to escape and wander the island.

After being set free, the Scorpios rex at least once bred asexually, with the offspring growing to adulthood in the wild. The campers observe that the Compsognathus are avoiding their camp as a result of the Scorpios' rampage, and other dinosaurs are behaving strangely and venturing into places they normally wouldn't.

A Ceratosaurus is discovered, ambushed, killed, and then carried off by a Scorpios. Later on same day, one of the Scorpios kills two Ouranosaurus in an assault.

The following day, a Scorpios suddenly realizes it is being tracked by a drone as it moves through the jungle, which the dinosaur immediately destroys.

A day later, Darius and a number of other Gallimimus discover the body of a Scorpios rexes that had killed a Gallimimus and stored it in a tree. Later on that day, a hybrid called a Scorpios creates a stampede of dinosaurs, killing a Brachiosaurus in the process since it was unable to leave quickly enough to avoid the hybrid.

The campers build a barrier and an electric fence around their camp in case of an assault after finding out about the Scorpios rex. One of the hybrids pursues a herd of Parasaurolophus to the children's camp as night falls and a storm approaches the island. It kills several of them before being drawn to the camp by the electricity that sparks in the rain. When the campers are startled by the Scorpios' test of the fence and subsequent shock, it roars to scare them away, hops over the fence, and climbs a tree to approach them covertly. The dinosaur ambushes the group, encircling several of the campers and striking Sammy with its poisonous quills until lightning strikes a nearby tree, lighting it ablaze, hypnotizing the hybrid until the fires go out. The commotion of other dinosaurs leads the Scorpios to rush after them just as it is about to resume its attack.

As Yasmina searches the island for the antivenom while Sammy is poisoned, she ultimately runs upon the same Scorpios eating another Parasaurolophus. She drops the antidote as the dinosaur suddenly shows interest in her and roars. In order to avoid setting off the hybrid, Yaz leans over carefully to pick up the object before sprinting off as the Scorpios follow. The Scorpios rex pursue Yaz until she reaches a violent river, which she jumps across but twists her ankle doing so. The hybrid is attracted to the Gondola Lift by Ben and Darius' use of gasoline to demolish it in a massive explosion, which causes the Scorpios to simply do the same and quickly corner her.

Later that evening, a bioluminescent Parasaurolophus lux herd is attacked by a Scorpios rex. As their armor is too thick for the hybrid's quills to breach, the herd of Ankylosaurus defend Bumpy from the attack and drive the predator away. The Scorpios start surrounding Darius and Ben the following day when they run into them.

The Scorpios approach Darius and Ben in a circle before abruptly attacking one another as the lads shelter in a limousine that was stolen from Kenji Kon's apartment. The hybrids struggle, throwing the vehicle around, but ultimately they both drive away. After the threat has passed, Darius and Ben rejoin with the rest of the gang and start formulating a strategy to eliminate the hybrids and stop the harm they do to the island. Darius discovers a tranquilizer rifle amid the ruins of the former Jurassic Park Visitor Center to that purpose, but they are then assaulted by a Scorpion. The Velociraptor Blue and the second Scorpios rex are drawn to the attack that ensues after Darius attempts to shoot it but misses. The metal scaffolding holding the building's roof is destroyed during a three-way conflict between the three dinosaurs, which also brings the structure toppling down. While fighting, both Scorpios rex fail to see the building collapse and are killed by it. The campers and Blue do notice, however, and manage to flee.

Trivia[]

  • Scorpios rex used to be in Villains Wiki since it does a lot worse than what a normal predator does. It got deleted since there is no evidence suggests killing out of a human motive or desire since the whole idea of Jurassic Park is the humans are the real monsters (which not all of them are). This is likely because Scorpios rex is completely amoral unlike the Indominus rex and Indoraptor who have intelligence higher than other dinosaurs.
