Stanley is a minor character from the Railway Series book Duke the Lost Engine. He was a reckless Engine who would often ride off the rails.

Biography

Stanley was a narrow gauge engine that was built in America. He would later be re located to the mid Sodor railway where he would with Duke. He would always ignore Duke's advice and even laughed at him when he told him that on the mid Sodor railway they do worry about spills. Eventually he was turned into a pumping engine for being too rough when riding the rails.

Appearance

Stanley is a bright red Baldwin Class 10-12-D.

Personality

Stanley was very careless and cocky, he didn't care about the warnings given to him by Duke.

Trivia

• Stanley most like kept coming off the rails because his basis the Baldwin Class 10-12-D were very top heavy and not built for speed.
• Stanley is replaced in the TV series by Smudger.
