“ | Trainer's Girlfriend: What is it now? You're not still cursed, are you? (giggles) Gengar's Former Trainer: That was more than three years ago. Now, I've got way more luck than I know what to do with and no curse! But when that thing was around, it was awful. I couldn't win a battle and every Pokémon I tried to catch would get away. I fall down the steps and I lose things all the time. No matter what I did, it was nothing but bad luck! Trainer's Girlfriend: Uh, excuse me, but that's why they called it a curse! (Laughs) Gengar's Trainer: But that bringer of bad luck is gone now. I'm the luckiest! After all, its just a Gengar. I shouldn't've caught that thing anyway. |

The Unnamed Girlfriend is a minor antagonist who appeared in the Anime Pokémon Journeys: The Series, where she had first appeared in the episode "A Chilling Curse!". She is the girlfriend of Gengar's Former Trainer.
She was voiced by Mariko Nagai in the Japanese dub, while her other voices for the other dubs were not credited.
Why Isn't She Heroic or Villainous?[]
- She has not done enough heinous actions to be considered as a villain, with the only bad thing she has done was of her being a jerk (i.e. bad-mouthing Gengar) and her only redeeming quality is of her caring for her boyfriend.
Biography[]
In the current time of the Series, Ash Ketchum would bump into her boyfriend, with the latter rudely telling the former to watch where he's going. The girlfriend would ask the trainer jokingly if he wasn't still cursed before laughing. Like her boyfriend, she is shown to not show remorse for Gengar's abandonment by her boyfriend.
While her boyfriend blaming Gengar despite the latter having done nothing but showed loyalty to him for the pettiest reasons (i.e: losing Pokémon battles, failing to catch Pokémon, falling down the steps, and constantly losing his belongings) instead of taking his own responsibility, calling Gengar a "curse" and being "bad luck", the girlfriend would say that is why they call Gengar a "curse" before laughing and being hugged by her boyfriend.
This would cause Gengar to become furious and attack him and his girlfriend in rage at what their former trainer did, with both of them dodging its shadow ball attack.
When Ash Ketchum tells the Trainer to talk to his Gengar to try to calm the latter down, The Trainer decides still act like a coward and blames all of his own misfortunes on his Gengar, rudely telling to it that he doesn't need him anymore. This causes Goh to gasp in shock and upset Ash Ketchum and Gengar even more for how disrespectful the trainer is, only for the latter to rudely tell Ash to shut up and running away, with the unnamed girlfriend running away with her boyfriend in fear of Gengar.
She has got little to no comeuppance for cruelly insulting Gengar.
Personality[]
Just like her boyfriend, she is an an arrogant individual who believes that Gengar is "bad luck" and "a curse". She also shows no sympathy nor remorse for what Gengar has been though from her boyfriend's abandonment.
After her boyfriend refused to apologize, with the latter telling Ash to shut up, refusing to hold himself accountable and telling his Gengar that he doesn't need him anymore, she would show her cowardice as she runs away with her boyfriend to avoid Gengar. Her cowardice is also shown as she would cower down when she was attacked by her boyfriend's own Gengar, even asking what was happening as if she didn't just insult Gengar before.
However, the girlfriend does show to have some care for her boyfriend, as she is hugged by him and always on his side.
Trivia[]
- The Unnamed Girlfriend, despite her meanness of her boyfriend's Gengar, is more of an antagonist rather than a Villain due to being considered as not heinous enough and thus is more of a jerk.
