The Yama Tsukami are an Elder Dragon species that appears in the science fantasy videogame, Monster Hunter 2.
Why aren’t they heroic or villainous?[]
- They are mainly minding their own business until the hunter comes.
Physiology[]
With a physique like an octopus, Yama Tsukami is a unique Elder Dragon. In addition to having four broad tentacles, it is coated in moss, algae, and other plant life. Moreover, it has two huge whiskers and a strange pair of teeth and gums that resemble human anatomy. To keep itself floating, it releases gas from inside.
Like the Kirin, it is simply too unique to be placed in any one group, which is why it is classified as Elder Dragon. It is quite unclear how this enigmatic species fits in the grand scheme of things.
Abilities[]
The incredible capacity of Yama Tsukami to float in midair without assistance and even go great distances without pausing is well known. It uses hydrogen or helium gas to power itself; however, the exact mechanism is uncertain. Its association with Great Thunderbugs appears to be symbiotic, allowing the latter to hibernate inside it until they reach adulthood. In exchange, the monster receives assistance from the Great Thunderbugs as they take out targets. When these Thunderbugs come into contact with an opponent, they have the ability to explode, dealing significant damage to their victim. Additionally, it is capable of attacking enemies by releasing flaming gas from its pores.
Behavior[]
Although Yama Tsukami is a deadly animal, it could become submissive if fed. The beast can normally escape most situations by using its bulk and ability to fly, but if it is encircled or cornered, it may turn quite violent.
Habitat[]
Only a few mountain and woodland areas—most of them respectable habitats for a huge animal—have seen Yama Tsukami. They frequently take a nap at old towers.
