The Yeti is a supporting character in the Monsters, Inc. franchise.
He is voiced by Pixar regular John Ratzenberger.
Biography[]
He used to work in the Monsters Inc. mailroom. But one day, he came across a letter for Randall Boggs that was from Henry J. Waternoose about plans for the Scream Extractor. Not wanting him to reveal the truth, Waternoose began spreading false rumors about the Yeti and soon banished him into the human world and he destroyed the door so that he couldn't come back.
Monsters, Inc.[]
He was the first monster named in Monsters, Inc. by Mike Wazowski along with the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot as the monsters that were exiled to the human world, and Mike worried that he and Sulley may be the next. The Yeti welcomes Mike Wazowski and Sulley and does all in his power to make them feel at home in his cave when Waternoose sends them on a mission to the Himalayas. He also has some comic chops when he talks about his pal Bigfoot, who goes by the moniker "King Itchy." Sulley demands the Yeti explain whether there are any children in that hamlet when he mentions a little community at the base of the mountain so that he can sneak back into the Monster World. The Yeti verifies that there are human children living in the settlement, but he also cautions that the journey there takes three days. Additionally, he cautions Sulley about venturing outside in a storm, but Sulley still decides to venture out in order to save the human kid he unintentionally allowed into the Monster World.
After Mike uses the lemon ones as a hurling weapon, the Yeti is last heard calling to Sulley to inform him that he has created more snow cones, but Sulley either ignores him or is unable to hear him since he is rushing down the hill on his improvised sled.
Monsters University[]
When Mike and Sulley, who were then newcomers, were introduced to their employment as mail sorters, a Monsters, Inc. employee named The Yeti made an appearance at the conclusion of the prequel Monsters University. He cautions them not to tamper with the mail or peek inside it because doing so may result in expulsion if found.
Why isn’t he heroic or villainous?[]
- The best thing he did is just being nice and offered snow cones. Nothing else more than that.
